One Summer in Savannah Inspiration

Thank you so much for making my debut week phenomenal! I don’t cry, but lately, I’ve been moved to tears by the outpouring of love and support for ONE SUMMER IN SAVANNAH. I’m truly thrilled that it’s inspiring and touching so readers and finding those who need it. ONE SUMMER IN SAVANNAH is not an easy book to read nor was it an easy book to write. You may have questions, such as why does Hosea speak in poetry? Hosea is inspired by my grandfather who had a stroke when I was younger. He lost his ability to speak but was able to communicate with us in his own way. I wanted to honor him somehow but also needed Sara’s father to speak. Why not use poetry as a form of expression, or communication? And the biggest question: why did Jacob have to be an identical twin? I answer this question and more in this Shelf Awareness interview. Take a minute to give it a read: https://www.shelf-awareness.com/max-issue.html?issue=524
